Facts and Figures

Spring Bank Primary is a community Primary School catering for girls and boys between the ages of 4 and 11.

Class Organisation
Classes are arranged in groups of age and mixed abilities. There are currently seven classes covering Reception to Year 6.

Teachers are allocated to classes annually, with the requirements of the school and the needs of the children taken into account.

Children are taught using a variety of methods suitable to their needs and the subject area. The teaching staff utilise a range of styles, including whole class, small groups, mixed ability and ability groups. It may also be appropriate for individual teaching to take place.

Curriculum
Since September 1989 our school, like all other schools in England and Wales teach according to the National Curriculum. At present the core subjects consist of English, Mathematics, Science, Information and Communication Technology and Religious Education. Alongside the core subjects are History, Geography, Design and Technology, Music, Art and Physical Education. PSHEC is also taught as part of the whole school curriculum.

There is more information about the curriculum available in the School Prospectus and curriculum policy documents are held in school.

Special Educational Needs
The provision for children with special educational needs, (SEN), has a high priority at Spring Bank. Whilst much of the children's education is catered for within the confines of the classroom, through general planning and differentiated work, provided by the class teacher, some children will require extra work and support. The school follows the SEN Code of Practice, a national document which is linked to local authority guidelines.

The school has a SEN policy that is available at school.

Inclusion and Access for All
We are committed to ensuring that all of our children, staff, governors, parents and visitors have full access to all areas of the school. As a school community it is vital that access is maintained for all, and working in partnership with groups and individuals we endeavour to secure this right for all.

Admission to the school for all children is handled through the Admissions Unit in Education Leeds and all children are welcome to attend our school. We will discuss individual needs with parents as required in order to ensure full access.
